Day 9

We’ve all been hurt before by people we trusted, and unfortunately it may happen again.  We need to learn to forgive others quickly when this happens. Forgiveness is powerful!  It isn’t easy to forgive someone who as offended us, but it is liberating when we do so.  If we choose not to forgive, we carry bitterness, anger and resentment until we decide to deal with it.  Some people go a lifetime carrying such pain and stress which can damage other relationships, alters our state of mind, and it negatively affects our bodies.  The main reason why we should forgive is stated as follows:

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (Matthew 6:14-15)
We must remember it is a process.  You might have to pray this as often as several times a day.  You will know when you have completely let go when you think of that person and the pain no longer is there.
Father, please help me to forgive this person who has hurt me.  Give me the desire and ability to forgive. Forgive me if I held any bitterness, anger or resentment against this person.  Help me to release all these negative feelings that I’m experiencing so that I can walk blameless. I need your guidance in how to handle this situation in a way that pleases you.  Please heal my wounds and deepen my understanding of your love.  I ask that you give me your perspective concerning what happened.  I receive your healing and forgiveness.
